Houses Saved
The 1908 fire took only one and a half hours to totally destroy Fernie. The only area saved was directly behind the Fernie Firefighters first stand and included the residences between what are now called First and Second Streets, including the Doc Bonnell’s House. (within th the red circle)

After the Fire

1911By 1911, when this photo was taken, the town had been totally rebuilt, including many more buildings constructed from brick.
